Description
Chatty Apps allows you to create rich user interfaces without programming or scripting. However a “drag & drop” design environment can never match what a developer can do by programming, because with programming a skilled developer can do virtually anything. The good news is that Chatty Apps gives you the best of both worlds: With Chatty Apps you can do a lot without programming; in fact all the important and necessary things can be done without programming. However, if you want to do even more you can always resort to coding and extend Chatty Apps. This is possible because Chatty Apps is based on industry standard technologies such as HTML/HTML5 and JavaScript. Developers can extend Chatty Apps by using HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON and SOAP/REST Web Services. This application demonstrates how these technologies can be used to add bells and whistles to a Chatty App user interface. There are four extensions that are demonstrated:

• dynamically inserting and removing text using Dynamic HTML.
• using jQuery for animation and changing colors.
• using REST web services to quickly populate a large combo box and (iv) using JSON to find the best price for an item.

These are a few simple examples but many such simple things add up to some very sophisticated capabilities.
